Any homeowners dream come true! Palm Beach Habilitation Center’s group home, JB’s Ranch got a makeover. Pressure washing, exterior painting, a custom-made picnic table, gazebo, landscaping, flagpole, living room painted, 75-inch TV donated and installed, living room furniture, bedding sets, and more.
It started with a benevolent mom whose son receives services from Palm Beach Habilitation Center. “We want the home to look beautiful and have everything we would want for our own families,” said Linda Hanlon. She and her circle of friends wanted to volunteer and help the Center in a meaningful way. They decided on a complete home makeover for “JB’s Ranch,” a group home for men with disabilities. Saturday
May 15 the majority of the work was accomplished with a group of about 30 volunteers.
“A group of us started talking about how we could help this great organization, and then the project grew into
something bigger and really impactful,” said Phillip Harrelson. The group of volunteers toured JB’s Ranch group home to review needed improvements, and then Palm Beach Habilitation Center staff met with residents to ask what they wanted for their home. Volunteers made cash gifts and donated new items. They also approached their employers and local businesses for donations. Arete Incident Response, Comcast, East Coast Valet, Capitol Carpet & Tile, Lifetime Exteriors and Rorabecks are among the many businesses who supported this project.
The residents at JB’s Ranch were overjoyed to see the final result of their home makeover. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, contributed and helped organize all the projects. Together you are helping ensure adults with disabilities live their best life.
